Direct continuation on "Cannon" (S05E02) episode titled "The Deadly Conspiracy". Since there were two versions of the story, one where it ends on "Cannon" as a single episode, this "Barnaby Jones" episode is a continuation on the two-part cross-over story.

A mentally unstable young man who was declared innocent of murder by reason of insanity several years ago is once again suspected of murder.
