On his morning drive to work, Jerry discovers the body of a young woman who has been strangled. The victim worked as a physical therapist at the winter sports training center. Two ski jumpers quickly become the focus of the investigation. Both the athletes and their coach, who had a relationship with the victim, reject the suspicion against them. Beissl and Jerry also encounter further resistance: the jumpers' mothers do everything they can to torpedo the investigation against their sons.
Despite all the interventions, Beissl and Jerry manage to uncover the background to the crime. A few days before the murder, the two jumpers were driving with the murder victim at night – and hit a pedestrian. Instead of taking care of the seriously injured person, they committed a hit-and-run. The next day, the murdered woman was overcome with guilt. She wanted to report the accident – and was killed on her way to the police. Who became the murderer to prevent a scandal? The two jumpers come under increasing pressure.
