Marshal Dan Troop (John Russell) expects trouble when manager Jimmy Fresco (Walter Burke) brings his prize-fighter to Laramie. Samson (Mickey Simpson), an arrogant brute, beats all who enter the ring and expects to take over the town. When he makes a play for Lily Merrill (Peggie Castle), owner of The Birdcage cabaret and beats Deputy Johnny McKay (Peter Brown), Troop is convinced that he will have to meet Samson with bare fists.
