Still estranged from Mary but living more up-market, Rab hears of his mother's death. To make matters even worse, he discovers that Mary has taken in a young and handsome lodger.

Rab has an eye test but refuses to wear the glasses he is prescribed, so he struggles to watch a blue movie. Mary visits a male strip show, before being recalled for a smear test.
