Kate and Guddi meet Miriam, a young woman who has endured years of pain and fatigue because of endometriosis, and John, who's recently been diagnosed with kidney stones, a common but painful condition.

Miriam has battled with endometriosis for most of her adult life, but in the last year it has significantly worsened. Endometriosis is a common condition affecting women of reproductive age. It occurs when cysts form on the ovaries or womb. Miriam has an extreme case, which last year caused her to be hospitalised. At just 25, Miriam is desperate for a better quality of life, as even simple household chores exhaust her. In our hub, Miriam is astonished by the number of growths. With the help of her consultant gynaecologist Shaheen Khazali, Miriam can see the extent of her endometriosis. But with a case this serious, it isn't just pain that concerns Miriam; her fertility is at risk too. We follow her as she faces lengthy surgery, the only option to get rid of the cysts.

John was rushed to hospital when he became severely unwell with suspected sepsis. But the cause of his pain was in fact a common condition: kidney stones, which affect around 1 in 10 of us. In our virtual consultation, John will confront the extent of his kidney stones, which are in not just one of his kidneys but both. He wants to know whether, once they're gone, they will return in the future. We follow John as he faces an anxious wait for the only option, surgery, in which his urological surgeon Anil Vohra will remove them in a delicate procedure.
