Paladin rides out to bring in a gunfighter, and watches the man Juan gun down Paladin's would-be employer. An amnesty is declared and Juan swears to obey it, convincing Paladin. However, when Juan returns home, he discovers that his fiance has chosen another man.

Paladin is bushwhacked by a crooked foreman who is robbing the ranch out from under the beautiful but isolated owner who owns it. Once the foreman leaves, Paladin stays on as a hand to get the full story.
