Paladin goes to help Costigan, the brother of a man who died for him at Antioch, but discovers that Costigan intends to wipe out a squatter and his wife no matter what the cost.

Paladin tracks a vicious killer--Rusty Doggett--to a town that provides sanctuary to lawbreakers, and finds himself acting as the prosecuting attorney to convince the outlaws to let him take Rusty... with Paladin's life on the line if he fails.
