A rancher hires Paladin to ride in a winner-take-all anything-goes Mouli horse race against the local Comanche tribe. The stakes: each sides' respective lands. However, when Paladin accidentally breaks the Comanche rider's arm beforehand, he switches sides and takes the brave's place.

Paladin is hired to recover a piano belonging to Franz Lister, which has been stolen by thieves. They want to ransom it back, but Franz refuses to pay for the piano that is his life and joy.
