Paladin's old friend Ernie Backwater tricks Paladin into coming to his town for hunting... a dangerous fugitive.

Nora Larson hires Paladin to visit her husband Brian in prison and convince him to testify against the men who committed the murder he's being held for. But when Paladin gets there, he's knocked out and substituted for Brian so that the prisoner can make his escape with none the wiser.
