Paladin rides into a small Texas town and finds a young couple in need of a room so that the wife can deliver her body. However, the only saloon in town is filled up with drunken cowboys celebrating Christmas Eve and having no interest in helping.

Two Indian brothers--one the sheriff of Latigo and the other a petty criminal--each hire Paladin to bring in the other brother.
