The daughter of an elderly, recently widowed woman feels that her mother is being bilked by a phony spiritualist and hires Hetty to expose her. 

Hetty goes undercover as a battered wife in an isolated shelter after an abused woman is accidentally killed fleeing her husband under questionable circumstances.
