When a prison guard is stabbed to death outside of a jewelry store, Patrick Jane suspects one of the guard's inmates is the killer. Meanwhile, Rigsby questions his own father about the murder.

Jane and the team investigate an explosion at a gas station, involving a thief with a bomb strapped to his chest. However, not everything is quite as it first appears when Jane reveals that the bomber was in fact the victim, and not the real killer.
