While a comedian's television program is taping, the funny host of the show ends up being shot. During his investigation, Nick discovers multiple staff members who have a motive.

Hazel takes care of the Charles home while they are out of town to pick up a manuscript. Hazel then poses as Nora Charles when a radio station calls their number. Nick and Nora encounter problems when they arrive to get the manuscript due to Hazel posing as Nicks wife.
