Nick and Nora investigate the murder of a gangster while vacationing at a European spa.

After Nick is stopped for a traffic infraction in a small Maine town, he protests the unfairness of the ticket and elects to spend a day in jail spoiling Nora's plans for a Canadian vacation. The day in town turns bizarre when the residents of the town disappear.
