Story about a salesman who works so hard he collapses. The enforced idleness of convalescence irritates him until he begins to wonder about the four anonymous blood donors who saved his life.

Two expeditions take off into the swampland, one a hunting guide who is seeking his best friend, an escaped convict and the other a girl of the swamp.
