Stacy and a seriously wounded Corrigan are taken hostage by a trio who take refuge in a church, demanding a $100,000 ransom and safe passage to Mexico.

Hooker's investigation into a series of grisly murders by a pair of religious crazies is accompanied by Sergeant Leigh Stockwell, a close, old friend, whom is somewhat his protégé. But Stacy becomes suspicious that Leigh is using cocaine, an addiction which not only jeopardizes the case and Leigh's job, but also Hooker's life.
