On Christmas Eve morning 2022, a father comes into the emergency room at Lund University Hospital with his 6-year-old daughter. The girl has ingested vinegar and is very seriously injured. At the hospital, the fight to save her life begins. But something is not right. The little girl bears traces of several cases of abuse and a police investigation begins into what has really happened to her. It will be a case that will deeply affect everyone involved and also shake the whole of Sweden.

On a sunny April day in 2008, 10-year-old girl Engla disappears during a bike ride in the small town of Stjärnsund in Dalarna. It quickly becomes clear that this is not a voluntary disappearance.
