When kindergarten teacher Felix suddenly falls dead from his bike on his way home from work, Mick and Andreas know that something is wrong. They are convinced that it is murder when a high dose of painkillers is found in Felix's thermos flask. During their investigation at the "Ronald Reagan" daycare center, which is run by a German-American couple, they discover that there are some irregularities there. Did Felix want to draw attention to this?

Günther Kowalski is shot dead in his armchair at home. Investigators discover that Kowalski was apparently involved in the kidnapping of his former boss, Alfred Wannstedt. Wannstedt ruthlessly laid off employees to boost his own bonus, including Günther Kowalski.
