The head of the National Air Traffic Controllers Association says controllers around the country are devastated by the crash. He said air traffic control staffing is a major issue around the country. He said training and background checks are rigorous for all who want to be controllers. NBC News' Lester Holt reports. Divers continued to search for victims of the midair collision between an American Eagle jet and an Army Black Hawk helicopter. Officials said both the plane's and the helicopter's black boxes have now been recovered. Investigators are looking at staffing in the control tower before the crash and reports that the helicopter was flying above the usual altitude, which put it on a collision course with the jet. NBC News' Tom Costello reports. More details emerged about those lost in the collision of an American Eagle jet and and Army Black Hawk helicopter. Two of the three soldiers on the helicopter were identified, as were more the passengers and crew members on the plane. They included a civil rights lawyer who was about to start teaching at Howard University, and friends returning from a hunting trip in Kansas. NBC News' Tom Llamas reports. The Trump administration said tariffs would take effect on Saturday on goods from Canada, Mexico and China. Mexico's president said the tariffs would violate trade agreements with the U.S. President Trump insisted that the tariffs would not lead to more inflation for U.S. consumers.
