Democrats blocked a GOP funding bill that would re-open the federal government, as there appears to be no end in sight to the shutdown. The shutdown's first impacts are now starting to be felt. NBC News' Ryan Nobles reports. Six homes have crumbled into the ocean, after they were lashed by waves and wind from Hurricanes Humberto and Imelda. 18 homes have collapsed into the ocean in the Outer Banks since 2020 due to storms, erosion and rising sea levels. NBC News' Jesse Kirsch reports. In Los Angeles, two trained hawks are missing after they were stolen during the Rams NFL game last weekend. Authorities say they were taken after a thief drove off in the vehicle where they were crated. NBC News' Liz Kreutz reports on the search to find them. A 6.9 magnitude earthquake has devastated Cebu, an island in the Philippines. First responders are now racing to save survivors as makeshift hospitals struggle to treat the injured. The earthquake is the deadliest to hit the country in over a decade and has killed dozens of people. NBC News' Janis Mackey Frayer reports. NBC News' Anne Thompson reports on Jane Goodall - the trailblazer who studied chimpanzees and changed the way we looked at these great apes. Goodall passed away at the age of 91 while on a speaking tour in California. The White House is pushing back after Pope Leo appeared to criticize President Trump's crackdown on illegal immigration. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth summoned hundreds of U.S. generals and admirals from all over the world to attend a speech where he called for a number of changes. He told military leaders if they disagreed with his new policies, they should "do the honorable thing and resign". NBC News' Courtney Kube reports. In southeast Indonesia, a top floor of a building collapsed during construction while students were gathered for afternoon prayer. Rescuers are now trying to save dozens of students caught beneath the rubble. NBC News' Raf Sanchez has the story. Ahead of Sean ‘Diddy' Combs' sentencing, prosecutors have asked a judge to sentence the music mogul to more than eleven years in prison. Combs' team has asked for 14 months. Combs was convicted on prostitution charges over the summer but acquitted of more serious charges. NBC News' Chloe Melas reports. In Beaufort County, South Carolina, video shows an officer pointing his gun at teens in a Hilton Head neighborhood. The sheriff's office says the deputy has been suspended without pay as an investigation into the incident is conducted. NBC News' Priscilla Thompson reports. President Trump warned Hamas has 3 or 4 days to accept his peace plan which has already been approved by Israel. A growing number of Arab countries have also come out in support of Trump's plan. NBC News' Richard Engel reports. Multiple studies have found a potential link between Depo-Provera birth control injections and meningioma tumors. More than a thousand women are now suing Pfizer, the maker of Depo-Provera, alleging the company chose to "ignore relevant safety concerns." Pfizer told NBC News it "stands by the safety and efficacy of Depo-Provera". NBC News' Zinhle Essamuah reports.

Police say a suspect rammed a car into people gathered outside a synagogue in the English city of Manchester, before getting out and stabbing people. The suspect is a 35-year-old British citizen of Syrian descent, according to police. NBC News' Raf Sanchez reports. Two Delta regional jets collided on the tarmac in New York. The impact was strong enough to smash the nose and windscreen on one aircraft. The FAA and NTSB are now investigating what went wrong. NBC News' Sam Brock has the story. In Cranford, New Jersey, a 17-year-boy has been charged with two counts of first-degree murder for allegedly killing Maria Niotis and Isabella Solis. Authorities say the suspect struck the teenage girls with his vehicle. The families of the girls say the attack was intentional. NBC News' Erin McLaughlin has the story. On the eve of his sentencing, Sean ‘Diddy' Combs wrote a letter to the judge asking to return home to his family. He wrote, "I am humbled and broken to my core" and apologized for committing domestic violence, calling it a "heavy burden" that he will "carry forever".
