Through a series of twists and near misses, Elvira ends up finding a new victim, which brings her closer to Emerson, who it is revealed has come to Kilraven to solve the murder of a German woman there five years previously.

Desperate to prove to herself that she is not a monster, Elvira pursues a drunk driver released from jail who mowed down a father and daughter.
