Gleb Kaverin is a military surgeon. A tough, cynical romantic. After another business trip to Africa, he returns home to Nizhny Novgorod. During a boat trip, a pregnant Internet celebrity gets sick. Evgeny Borisovich Dobrovolsky, who accompanied the girl, the head of the perinatal center, gets lost in extreme conditions, and Kaverin takes everything into his own hands. Breaking all imaginable rules, he saves the girl and delivers the baby on the way to the hospital. Now Kaverin is a local celebrity, but his moment of fame goes sideways. The correspondent of a local TV channel goes to Gleb's house, where he finds his wife Marina with a lover – now the whole city knows that she is cheating on him.

Kaverin is crushed, wants to return to Africa, but before leaving, he tries to help another woman in labor, from whom the baby was allegedly stolen. When he got into a fight with the police, he thought he was saving the child, but in the end he went along with the surrogate mother and thereby secured his detention in the bullpen. Police Lieutenant Colonel Startseva offers him a deal: she will try to hush up the incident if Kaverin helps her.
