Jerry's teenage son, Sammie, comes to the hospital to ask some tough questions. Ella's mother, Vivi, is having surgery, and this affects Ella more than she expected. During the New Year's Eve party, Ella finally officially tells her coworkers about her pregnancy. Given Ella's baby bump, this comes as no surprise to anyone. It turns out Trui has been taking bets on who the father is. Meanwhile, Frederik receives some particularly bad news.

Jacob confides his fears to Trui. Tina runs into an old school crush in the delivery room: Emmanuel. Emmanuel flirts during the delivery, creating a particularly awkward situation. Jerry's father tries to make him understand that by wanting to continue his relationship with Ella, he's not only destroying himself but also his family.
