Jeanette Kwakye meets some of the 50,000 runners who are taking part in the 2022 London Marathon and discovers why they are running the 26.2-mile distance.

The elite men's race contains three of the five fastest men in the history of the marathon, including last year's winner, Sisay Lemma of Ethiopia, and the great Kenenisa Bekele. Another star attraction will be Mo Farah, with the 39-year-old Briton racing in his first marathon since 2019.

The women's field features Kenya's world record holder Brigid Kosgei and her compatriot Joyciline Jepkosgei, the defending champion, plus British number one Charlotte Purdue.
