Fitz tells Ming that he's decided to stay in Toronto, working at Mercy. Ming decides to go ahead with her insemination plans despite Fitz's decision. The doctors reflect on their early days at the hospital.
We are introduced to the group and their situations. Fitz, previously a doctor but now working for an Air Ambulance company, returns to Mercy hospital. Ming is ready to proceed with artificial insemination, and her husband Chen must deal with stress, dangerous fantasies and the consequences of Fitz's return.
Chen senses ulterior motives in Fitz's return to Mercy hospital, and confronts him when he finds the love letters that Fitz had wrote to Ming. They recall the Morbidity and Mortality conference (M&M), where Fitz presented the code blue that he and Chen were called to.
