When Mackie loses his voice after a choking incident, George Smith is put on the air as Lord Branley. When the Branley character becomes an instant sensation, the staff tries to keep the news media from finding out that Smith is black.

An escaped convicted murderer holds the staff hostage on the air with the intent of them using the Sherlock Holmes program to prove his innocence.
