Joseph, on one of his outings for running, twists his ankle badly. He will ask for help and will meet in a small mountain village a young priest, Stavros, who has recently been ordained and knows well the beneficial properties of herbs.

Joseph has his birthday and the students bring him an elaborate cake as a gift. Its creator is a young girl, Angeliki, who has great talent in confectionery but is trapped in a small society and her mother's plans for marriage and family.
