As they have now got to grips with owning cows, Kelvin wants to expand the herd and is in the market for a bull - he therefore heads off to a local breeder to see what he has for sale.
The Fletchers focus on diversification at the farm as Kelvin forages for berries and herbs to make their very own Fletchers' gin. Liz is feeling inspired by leftover sheep's wool and heads to a mill in Oldham to see if they can be made into blankets and Marnie and Milo retrieve their wildlife cameras to log the multiple species they see in their woods. Ruby the cow finally turns a corner and lets her calf drink from her after struggling to bond with her.
In the wake of the fire that left their home uninhabitable, the Fletchers are determined to end the year on a brighter note and head to Austria on a snowy Alpine adventure. From the world-famous ski slopes of Hintertux, to the majestic forests of Soll, they journey into the heart of the Austrian Alps, discovering a farming culture rich in tradition. Staying with generational farmers Josef and Martina Achrainer and their extended family, the Fletchers experience true Alpine hospitality and learn why the mesmerising sound of cow bells are a traditional part of livestock handling, and even how to round up chickens using a chant.
