On a farm far, far inside Grue Finnskog, Jan Storberget has long been an important bearer of Finnish forest traditions, even if he has been ashamed of the same traditions until now.

For 19 years, Einar and Illona Røe have lived separately to fulfill their dream of creating a livelihood in Sandøybotn on the outer side of Sørøya, while at the same time giving their sons a normal schooling. But now the reunion is approaching for the married couple.
