When Melinda and Jim take in a foster child, they soon discover that the girl's dead mother is attached to her. With the help of Professor Payne Melinda is able to get the woman to reveal her spirit in order to find out why she hasn't crossed over yet. Also, when Homer the ghost dog spooks Delia's golden retriever, she goes to dog whisperer Cesar Millan for guidance.

Melinda meets Gabriel, another whisperer with similar abilities. However, her fascination with meeting someone like her turns to fear when she finds a connection between him and Payne's wife.
