Nick takes on the task of proving a drug suspect innocent. Trouble is, the suspect is an old friend. The gangland execution of Nick's mentor puts the reporters on the trail of a politically ambitious district attorney with mob backing. 

When a friend's father dies as a result of being transported to a distant hospital, Nick and Mackey look into corrupt medical practices.
