CSI investigates the death of a woman who was part of a live billboard on Times Square, and a shooting during a robbery where the victim's "boyfriend" may be part of the crew.

The clues in Bonasera's puzzle lead Mac back to Chicago, where he must confront a traumatic event from his youth. Bonasera also discovers that her admirer is directly connected to the case.
