Sam is called to the scene of a woman found strangled with her own tights. Superintendent Peter Ross believes that it is connected to an old unsolved case, but Sam is not so sure. The dead woman was suspected of having an affair with Alan Whyte, and soon his body is also found.

An old woman's body is found by two teenage boys. Sam is called in to do the postmortem. The police question Chris Palmer, and they soon become sure that he is the killer, but he denies any involvement, so Sam sets out to find who the real killer is.
