Neuropsychiatrist Elena Astolfi, a mother of two girls, loses her husband Lorenzo in a bad accident. A year later, the woman returns to work; among her new patients is Patient 13, a man with no memory that no one can identify.

Elena continues to help Marcello, even though he is no longer her patient, so that he can discover the truth. It is about digging into the past and Marcello manages to fish out memories that, however, are too painful. Marcello is not the only one in difficulty, Elena also finds herself having to manage a difficult situation, the doctor has problems with her daughters that she does not know how to solve.
