On 18 August 1993, American International Airways flight 808 stalls, rolls to the right and crashes into the ground 1 quarter of a mile short of the runway while maneuvering onto final approach to Leeward Point Airfield in Guantánamo Bay, Cuba. All 3 crew members on board survive.

On 7 August 1997, Fine Air Flight 101 stalls and crashes just seconds after taking off from Miami International Airport, killing all 4 people on board and 1 person on the ground.
