In this episode, painter and decorator Craig swaps his rural Scottish home for the bright lights of London and trades paint rollers for blusher brushes as he tries to become a high-fashion make-up artist in just one month.
Leaving behind his mum, young daughter, and quiet life in the Scottish Highlands, Craig is immediately thrust into the bustling streets of London – a city he's only visited once at the age of eight – and the high-fashion, high-pressure world of professional makeup art.
Guided by two renowned and very exacting make-up artist mentors - Dominic Skinner and Howard Kong - as well as an acting coach who has the daunting task of getting Craig to embody the authentic confidence of a real professional, the next four weeks are about to be the toughest and most transformative of Craig's life.
From trying and failing to make over models at a fashion shoot to disastrous attempts to glam-up real women at a high-street counter, Craig is quickly immersed in the world of makeup art. But it's clear from the get-go that he and his mentors have their work cut out for them, especially as he seems intent on slapping makeup on faces as if he was splashing paint on a wall…
Plus, there's the small matter of him needing to blend in backstage rather than sticking out like a sore thumb – something that his mentors hope a top to toe makeover (complete with trendy handlebar moustache and bleached brows) might fix.
But when the final test comes, competing against three real make-up artists in a high-fashion photoshoot, will Craig's skills and composure hold up? Or will the industry judges spot the imposter?
