Judy looks forward to her Mother's Day tradition of having high tea at a fancy restaurant with Helen, Linda and, for the first time, a less-than-enthusiastic Lauren, but Bill's oh-so-manipulative mother (Sally Struthers) threatens to ruin Judy's plans by trying to go as well. Bill and Judy encourage Brian to get over his initial anxiety about traveling to Italy as part of a foreign-exchange program. But before Brian's departure, it's Bill who's upset that his son has grown old enough to leave the nest. Meanwhile, Lauren tries to find a summer camp for Tina after their parents neglected to do so.
