A maniac is trying to extort money from a renowned stage actor by threatening to kill an innocent person if the actor does not pay him a large sum of money. Unfortunately, he has already made good on his threat twice.

An informant insists that he is being targeted for murder, and Hawk starts to believe him, but he can't get others on the force to take the man's claim seriously.
