Dr. Ira Nodel has his body altered to communicate with aliens who have seeded Earth with their genetic material. He is joined on an alien spaceship by his son Paul, his girlfriend Hope, and six students who are individually absorbed into the ship.

Lt. Col. Brandon Grace returns to civilian life and is haunted by memories of his previous mission; he attempts to reconcile with his estranged daughter but has a feeling that someone is stalking him.
