Sue has invited Michael and Renee to a nice family dinner in an attempt to play happy families, which means she can't accept Phyllis's invite to her surprise birthday party. Michael and Renee's real motive for coming round is revealed, and things take a turn for the worst. Fortunately, Linda is there to avert tragedy and reveal the biggest shock of the night.

With Michael living back at home and unemployed, he really can't afford Linda anymore, so he decides to return her. Linda had made this week especially busy for Sue as it would have been her 50th wedding anniversary, so she leaves Michael with Sue's itinerary and onward care instructions. But when Sue's friends and Michael all let her down, she questions whether she can live without Linda.
