When multiple divorces and changes in employment brought Helga and Jonathan's four kids and grandchildren much closer to their 30-year-old home, it became clear that the idea of being "Empty Nesters" was out the window.  Now they need Mike Holmes and his kids Sherry and Michael to transform their dated, divided main floor into a highly functional, open concept, family home-base that can stand up to all their busy, multi-gen family can throw at it. 

Terrified that their family's legacy could burn to the ground, Melissa and her parents Steve and Angela are desperate for the Holmes Family to rid their ageing bungalow of its hazardous electrical, while overhauling their overstuffed, under-utilized basement into the bright, functional living space Melissa deserves.
