The plumbing in Shatalin's apartment breaks down, and Vika hires her elderly second cousin, who is a plumber, to fix it. Meanwhile, Maxim is holding auditions for corps dancers for his next musical. He's in a terrible mood because he couldn't even properly shave and wash his face in the early morning — there's no water. Masha wants to go to a party, but Maxim doesn't let her. Vika accidentally witnesses Denis kissing the granddaughter of her second cousin, the plumber. When she tells Maxim about this, it turns out that he is even proud of his son. Vika skillfully makes Shatalin understand that he judges his children's behavior using a "double standard." And Maxim, "feeling guilty," lets Masha go on a date.

Zhanna Arkadyevna's father comes to the Shatalins' with tickets to a Nikolai Baskov concert. Zhanna does her best to pretend she doesn't want to go, and then Zhanna's father, Arkady, invites Vika.
