David has never completely recovered from his traumatic experiences as a young soldier. An eye operation and the looming reunion with his mates stirs long forgotten memories.

On his final day as a University Professor, Bill is visited by a young student who looks remarkably like the girl he fell in love with before the war. He begins to reminisce with her about his missing years in Changi from which, emotionally, he will never recover.
