Residents of one of the districts of the capital are seized with horror from a series of rapes and murders taking place right "above" their windows. The victims are schoolgirls, obedient girls, family favorites. The disclosure of this case becomes fundamental for detective Pankratov - after all, he lived and grew up in the area and knew the families of the dead girls. Unfortunately, the ardor of Pankratov this time did not play into the hands of the detectives, and at first the investigation goes down the wrong path.

The real hunt for the talented cellist began. First, she is attacked near her apartment, then a box with a rat is tossed, and finally, she is shot with a crossbow. Who is this sophisticated maniac?
