Jamie is away in Africa doing volunteer work, so a young girl named Alice is allocated to Nan to keep her company. Alice soon discovers that Nan's kitchen tap is broken, so accompanies her to the council office.

Some ruthless property developers buy up the freehold on Nan's block of flats. The residents all have to join together to fight against the developers and their plans, everyone that is except for Nan, who finds herself in a position of power, as she brought her own flat back in the 1980's.
