Gene tries to convince Shannon that he does not want to make a big deal of his upcoming birthday but is subsequently ignored when Shannon and Paul Stanley decide to throw him a huge surprise party. But the surprise may be ruined when Gene decides to go on a business trip on the day of the party.

The apple does not fall far from the tree as Nick and his girlfriend Rose struggle with Nick's growing commitments to school, his comic book, and his band. Gene and Shannon offer him conflicting advice as Gene boards a plane to Singapore to obtain funding for a KISS Vegas show and inadvertently insults his hosts. What must father and son each do to get back into everyone's good graces?
