The museum was purpose-built to house the collection of Josephine and John Bowes, and in the picture galleries experts Elizabeth Talbot and Paul Laidlaw pick out some gems to value; among them are an ecclesiastical chair and an intriguing carved coconut. And Paul Martin visits Towton, the sight of one of Britain's bloodiest medieval battles.

Some of the best unseen finds from the show's valuations days from around the country, including visits to the Milestones Museum in Basingstoke, Ragely Hall in Warwickshire, the National Maritime Museum Cornwall in Falmouth and the RAF museum in Hendon, London.

The experts include Caroline Hawley, Michael Baggott, Nick Davies, Charlie Ross, Elizabeth Talbot and Charles Hanson, with items ranging from three bisque-headed porcelain dolls to a pair of silver spectacles dating from the 1800s.

Paul Martin also finds about the conservation work that has taken place at two houses in Scotland - Holmwood and Dumfries House.
