In this new series, engineer Dick Strawbridge, along with master craftsman Will Hardie, follows an ingenious competition to build a pop-up hotel made up of eight stunning and unique cabins in the wild. The Welsh tourist board challenged designers and self-builders to create a cabin for £11k that can be moved around the Welsh landscape every month. From over a hundred entrants, eight were chosen and Dick and Will follow the challenges of bringing these ambitious designs to life. The eight builds include a miniature coal mine, a hat-shaped cabin, and one designed to look like a cave. One of the cabins is set to be crowned the overall winner. Each episode features two of the builds as they battle it out for a place in the grand final. Meanwhile, Dick and Will build their own retreat for the pop up hotel.
This week an ambitious treehouse cabin takes on a tin-clad cabin with a trick up its sleeve.
This time ancient folklore collides with modern technology in a laser-cut cabin inspired by the legend of King Arthur. There's also a low-tech double-decker tepee. Dick visits a honeymooners cabin in Sussex and then takes Will Hardie to a luxury getaway in a sea fort just off the English Channel.
This time the two pop-up hotel cabins battling it out to go through to the final are a luxury design inspired by a Welsh coal pit and a modernist unit made of slate.
The first round of the competition features a battle of the dragons, as a cabin built to resemble a dragon's eye faces off against a dragon's claw
