Blue Lights
Blue Lights is the story of rookie (probationary) police officers working in contemporary Belfast, a city in which being a frontline response cop comes with a unique set of pressures and dangers. As they learn the basics of their profession, our new officers have to come to terms with a constant threat. In this often chaotic environment our characters have just a few crucial months to make it as police officers.
The team work together after the shooting. Stevie clashes with the spooks, Mo learns the truth about his father, and Grace accepts that she might break her promise to Angela.
Mo's side deal goes ahead, risking his relationship with his father. Tommy's firearms exam is brought forward, and Stevie tries to convince Grace to come back to work.
The police ombudsman investigates the team after a disastrous night shift. Helen uncovers a scandal, while a crisis at home has Grace doubting her career choice.
A paramilitary-style assault case has Grace determined to bring the McIntyres to their knees. When Gordy pulls away from Angela, she becomes desperate for help.
The team scramble to deal with a bad batch of drugs while the McIntyres try to cover their tracks. Annie receives terrifying news that has her wondering who she can trust.
PSNI probationer Grace promises to help Angela, whose son has fallen in with a notorious gang. But with undercover agents watching, will she be able to keep her word?
Two years into their jobs as response officers Grace, Annie and Tommy are accustomed to life under the blue lights. But their work will take them into a sinister world hidden behind the veneer of middle-class life, the world of the accountants and lawyers who facilitate organised crime. The old political and criminal order has gone and a new global gang rule Belfast, bringing danger closer to home for our officers than ever before.
Grace, Annie and Tommy are growing up fast as police officers, but nothing can prepare them for the turmoil they face every day. It's a year since the fall of the McIntyre crime gang and the vacuum has been filled by rival gangs, all competing for dominance. Constable Shane Bradley is drafted in to help, but his motivations are unclear. Tommy is dangerously seduced by the world of intelligence policing, while Grace struggles to deal with her son's absence, and growing feelings for fellow officer Stevie. As a young loyalist threatens to take over the city, the officers face a major gangland feud – culminating in a violent and devastating confrontation.
