The shop Ratman started selling dirt-cheap diamonds is thriving. When Kitaro expresses his suspicions about it, Ratman refutes him and declares he's cutting ties with Kitaro. The truth is, Ratman has a secret partnership with the Wheel Monk. Ratman leads humans to the Wheel Monk where the Wheel Monk eats their spirits. When their spirits are consumed, the humans turn to diamonds. Selling those diamonds has made Ratman very rich and he's indulging himself to his heart's content. Just then, a group of humans who have lost business because of Ratman, the Diamond Syndicate, appear before him and kidnap him...!
The Japanese government has been taken over by tanuki. With anti-tanuki supporters being arrested one after another, humans have begun monitoring each others' speech and actions. Meanwhile, in order to save Kitaro who has been turned into stone by Gyoubu tanuki's curse, Mana, Neko-girl, and the others head back underground. The Sand-throwing Hag and Child's-cry Old Man desperately fight the tanuki army. The only one left is the human, Mana, but the curse cast on her by Gyoubu tanuki activates and her body begins to change. Yokai beasts begin destroying Japan. How will Kitaro and the others stand against this crisis?!
A second moon has appeared in the sky! It's growing steadily closer and it's stopped in the sky above Tokyo Bay. Meanwhile, the 808 tanuki sealed away in Japan over 200 years ago have hijacked the radio waves and announced that they will take over the Japanese government. On her way to ask Kitaro for help, Mana is captured as an anti-tanuki threat. To save Mana, Kitaro and the others head into the vast underground space where the tanuki are hiding. At the same time, the Japanese government shoots down the second moon with a missile. The huge object that falls into Tokyo Bay is actually the egg of a particular yokai... Will Kitaro be able to thwart the tanuki's plot?!
Mana goes to Cat-girl saying, "lately, creepy things have been happening at school." After learning that one of the seven wonders of Mana's school, Hanako-san of the third floor girl's bathroom, is a friend of Cat-girl's, the two of them go to see Hanako, but they can't find her. And it's not just her. None of the yokai of the other seven wonders has been seen lately. Just then, the Sand-throwing Hag and Child's-cry Old Man arrive, having not been able to contact their old friend Ninomiya Kinjirou. They sense someone's presence and chase after it, all the way to the boy's bathroom on the second floor... What is happening at the school?!
Gouhara is the president of an IT company that is short-handed due to people quitting because of the low pay and grueling hours. While he's fretting over his troubles, he meets Ratman and the two of them join forces to start a company using kappa. The kappa who come from Toono are hard workers who can be kept on with an hourly wage of three cucumbers, which overjoys company president Gouhara. The kappa are pleased that they can work in a place where they can eat lots of cucumbers. But, soon, they begin to wonder if they're being exploited. They rise up in revolt to claim their rights as kappa!
Mana's class has gone to a certain village on an educational field trip. While chasing after a classmate, an old stone monument is accidentally toppled. Afterwards, the classmate falls ill and is hospitalized, and other strange things begin to happen around Mana. Sensing the presence of a huge yokai, Kitaro and the others arrive to find Mana trapped in a mirror! Could it be the work of the Old Man of the Mirrors? Why was Mana taken to the world inside the mirror? When Kitaro and the others find the Old Man of the Mirrors and question him, he attacks them using the mirrors!
The president of a certain company is drinking with his subordinate at a bar. He says, "people who believe in yokai are just making excuses for their own weaknesses." Then, Kitaro appears. Kitaro tells him that yokai exist, even if he can't see them. The company president shoves him away and leaves. The president and subordinate head home, but they get on a special train. They realize the train is headed to a different place than it usually does and look around to find that the other passengers look a little strange. The company president persists in his perspective, but terrifying things do happen in this world...
Kitaro arrives with a clip-clop in a lonely village deep in the mountains where Masae lives. The one who called Kitaro is Masae's only son, Sho, who lives in Tokyo. Sho says that Masae is possessed by yokai, but after Sho willfully flew out of the house, she won't listen to anything he says. But Masae's body grows steadily weaker, and if things are left like this, it will soon be a matter of life and death. Will Kitaro be able to get rid of the yokai that clings to Masae...?
Lately, humans just haven't been afraid of the yokai Kaminari. He thinks fondly of the days when people used to fear he would take their belly buttons... With all his powers going to waste, he attracts the attention of Ratman. Together with a suspicious group, Ratman starts up "BiBiBi Electric" using the electricity Kaminari creates and it's a tremendous success! The mascot character based on Kaminari is popular, too, and Ratman chuckles to himself over a roll of banknotes, but slowly his control begins to slip...!?
Elementary schooler Yuuta, who lives next door to Mana, gets the story of Kitaro out of her and goes to the GeGeGe Forest. It's been a few hundred years since the last time a human came to GeGeGe Forest. Kitaro tries to send Yuuta home immediately, but, pressured by the Sand-throwing Hag and Daddy Eyeball, he reluctantly allows Cat-girl to show him around the forest. Yuuta is quite knowledgable about yokai and is overjoyed to see all the different yokai in the forest. Then, suddenly, the forest changes! Kitaro and the others are attacked one by one. Daddy Eyeball says that Yuuta is the cause of it, but...!?
After hearing that children are going missing all over, Mana contacts Kitaro and the others and is ready to go with them to discover the truth behind the incidents, but Kitaro turns her down, saying that humans and youkai can't be friends. It's soon clear that a yokai that had once been sealed away is taking children to build a yokai castle. Then, Mana is abducted. Kitaro goes to rescue Mana with the Sand-throwing Hag and the Child's-cry Old Man!
At the arena concert of popular idol group Batteries, several thousand attendees have disappeared! Behind the incident is BiBiBi Productions, a talent company started by Ratman. Kitaro and Cat-girl race to the scene and find Mana has just arrived there too. Kitaro tries to make Mana keep her distance, saying, "humans should not meddle in the affairs of yokai." But Mana refuses to go home, saying, "my friend has disappeared." Kitaro and the others sneak into the arena where a youkai has sucked up all the audience and swelled to an enormous size...!
A forest has appeared in Shibuya's scramble crossing. People in the city are inexplicably turning into trees. Only half believing, middle schooler Mana puts a letter in the Yokai Post, and with a clip-clop GeGeGe no Kitaro appears! After hearing Mana's story, Kitaro and Daddy Eyeball are convinced it's the work of a youkai who was sealed away a few hundred years ago. In order to discover the origin of the phenomenon, Kitaro and Mana head to an underground facility in the city where something lies in wait for them...!?
